Project Friluftsliv

The concept of friluftsliv, or "living outdoors," isn't just a Norwegian word. In Norway, it's a way of life with an entire philosophy behind it. Friluftsliv isn't tied to a specific activity. For Norwegians, it has a deeper meaning, something along the lines of escaping the daily grind and finding peace and connection. In and through nature, people connect with themselves, with each other, and with nature. As a philosophy, friluftsliv is essentially about living a simple life in nature without destroying or disturbing it. The concept is closely related to "kos" (coziness)—the unique Norwegian word for enjoying oneself.

Both as a psychologist and by nature, I believe in the power of nature and its positive impact on our health (both physical and mental). Several scientific studies show, for example, how spending time in nature has a positive effect on your physical health, reduces anxiety, and improves your cognitive skills. Getting out into nature, Frilutlsliv-style, has both a preventative and curative effect. Don't wait until things get tough!

With this project, I want to offer people the opportunity to experience this concept and philosophy, with or without guidance. We don't have to go to Norway for this; we can also explore the nature around us. As a psychologist, I'll guide you through this process, and we'll explore how we can make it more our own.

Friluftsliv multi-day event in the Belgian Ardennes

Stay in a small group in a cozy cottage near the Ourthe River in the Belgian Ardennes. Once again, experiencing nature takes center stage as a co-therapist. This multi-day program is aimed at people facing high levels of stress, on the verge of burnout, or recovering from burnout, or those with significant anxiety. This program can be tailored to various target groups. A key indicator is that it is geared towards people who need a multi-day break to completely escape the stressful environment.

Individual stay with a workbook

Sometimes you'd rather be alone. In that case, you can also ask to stay at the house for a few nights to relax and reflect. If desired, we can also consider a personalized offer.
